Pat Coleman
-Through around thirty years playing with the like of John Gross, Paul Horn,
PJ Perry, Pat LaBarbara, Don Thompson, Mel Tormé, Pete Christlieb and
Kenny Wheeler, composition and sound production for movies and other media,
Pat’s taste and musicality make an indelible impression on everyone who enters
his orbit. |
Ken Lister has been playing jazz
bass professionally since 1984. He is currently based in the Vancouver and
Vancouver Island area, and has extensively toured Canada and elsewhere; including
the British Isles, Cuba and South America. Ken is a member of the Hugh Fraser Quintet and VEJI (the Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Improvisation). As a member of the Hugh Fraser Quintet, Ken won a Juno Award for the Best Mainstream Jazz Album of 1997. Ken also performs with the legendary jazz guitarist Pat Coleman in his trio, with Juno Award winner Buff Allen on drums. He has performed with many great musicians including Joshua Redman, Slide Hampton, Bob McLaren, Kenny Wheeler, P.J. Perry, Sam Noto, Don Thompson, Herb Ellis, Charlie Byrd, Kirk MacDonald, Jerry Fuller, Lorne Lofsky and many others. |
Buff Allen - great musician:
happy man. Makes his home on a west coast island but warmly appreciated right
across the land for work with Kenny Wheeler, Chuck Israels, guitarists Ed
Bickert, Lenny Breau, and Pat Coleman, pianists Hank Jones, Teddy Wilson,
Joanne Brackeen and Bob Murphy, singers Johnny Hartman and Maxine Sullivan…,
oh, we could go on adding to the list – but you get the point: the guy can
play.
Liquid fluency and positive attitude make him the drummer of choice for numerous pacific north-west projects – talents heard at their keenest in small groups with Pat Coleman, with Bob Murphy, or with B3. |
